Stanley Park Photowalk
This past week has been great for skiing, unfortunately, I have not gotten to enjoy any of it =( I don’t think I have actually been this sick in 3 or 4 years. I am on the mend and today my friend Jenny came downtown to Stanley Park to visit Tyler and I, and to see and to take pictures of the Herons nesting in Stanley Park. If you have never seen the Herons nesting in Stanley Park I highly recommend it, as it is very interesting to see from the months of March to May. Later in the season the baby herons are around but as the trees get their leaves the view of the nests slowly become more and more obstructed. Today, the sun was hidden behind dense clouds so the Herons are silhouetted, which I think looks kind of neat.
I really like this picture Tyler took last year, 2009, of the Herons nesting, as it also shows how close they are to the urban area of the West End.

We also took a little walk around and of course other pretty Spring flowers are starting to come up.

You just have to be careful not to get pooped on by the herons in the nests. I’ve seen them do it and it’s like dumping a can of white paint over the balcony 3 stories up!

@Tyler – thanks, I will take it into consideration when getting close to the trees =), good thing you have a long focal length lens on your camera so you don’t have to get too close!

Great shots Robyn! You are starting to take after Tyler!
PS Sorry we missed each other at the Telus Fest. It would be great to see you.
